Cflow has signed an agreement to deliver acomplete system for gentle and efficient fish handling to a new land-based salmon farming facility in Japan. The project, named Pure Salmon Japan, is located in Tsu City, the capital of Mie Prefecture, and will produce 10,000 tonnes of Atlantic salmon annually. It is considered one of the world’s most ambitious RAS-based aquaculture facilities.

Pure Salmon Japan is a vertically integrated land-based farmingand processing facility. The site will produce Atlantic salmon for domestic distribution in Japan and pet nutrition based on salmon by-products, with construction having started in the summer of 2024. The first harvest is scheduled for February 2028.
The project has secured substantial financing,including a long-term debt facility of JPY 33 billion (approx. NOK 2.2 billion) from equity and debt investors, and enjoys support from both Japanese government authorities and local stakeholders.
Cflow’s delivery covers the entire fish handling value chain across six buildings – from smolt to slaughtery. The systems are designed with a strong focus on fish welfare, operational reliability, and optimal production flow.

Singapore-based 8F Asset Management, owner of Pure Salmon Japan, has secured a strategic investment from Japanese property developer Mori Trust Group – a partnership that strengthens both the financing and the execution of the project.
The facility will have a total floor area of137,000 m², with the first harvest planned for early 2028. Production will be antibiotic- and vaccine-free, covering the entire chain from farming to processing and distribution.
Pure Salmon Technology – a company owned by Pure Salmon – will supply the RAS system to the facility and manage Cflow’s delivery.
Per Ivar Foshaug, CEO of Pure Salmon and Gunn-Marit Nerem, VP Sales at Cflow, signed the agreement for the delivery to the new land-based salmon farming facility Pure Salmon Japan at Cflow’s stand during Aqua Nor in Trondheim.

The project has received the highest sustainability financing rating from the Japan Credit Rating Agency and represents an important contribution to Japan’s food security. With its location close to Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, Pure Salmon Japan will be able to deliver fresh salmon directly to some of the world’s most discerning seafood consumers.
