Welcoming in the New Year provides a respite to reflect over the past year, and the challenges faced by the industry during that year. The transition to 2020 also provides an opportunity to take a peek into the near future, to consider how the industry will develop in the coming year.

Annalin Fasting and Maiken Svinøy are two of the four biologists at Cflow. During their studies at The Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Ålesund, they had not envisaged that they would have the opportunity to work in an industrial company. However, nowadays, they work closely with various professions in Cflow, focussing on fish welfare at all stages.

The potential for sustainable value creation in the ocean is vast. Today, only 2% of the aggregated food production comes from the ocean. In 2050 it is estimated that there will be roughly nine billion people on earth, and we need about 70% more global food production. In order to meet the need for a healthy diet we have to invest in products and processes that are environmentally sound and provident, which includes products and food from the ocean.
